How does a book like this prepare a tourist for their visit? Introduction Paris is a tantalizing place and Downie made it seem all the more so with his unique approach to describing it. It was quite difficult to select one specific place to explore since all seemed so tantalizing, but I eventually settled on the ÃŽle de Saint Louis as being the most attractive location. Many of the subjects and locations covered by Downie tantalized me. These were not only the more famous locations and topics such as the Seine, the Place des Vosges, Coco Chanel, and Vincent van Gogh, but even more insignificant locations.
